What they were doing in the bunker seemed unethical. Sean Bean's charater lied to his clients and told them the clones didn't have a conscience when they really did, and they wanted to live. Sometime in the future it may be possible to make clones of people to use as spare parts, but with that power comes consequences and contraversery. Would you kill someone else for a chance to cheat death? That depends on how far you're willing to go to live.
ReplyDeleteWell basicly the movie was about really really rich people who want to live longer basicly for forever. They pay money and this guy creates a clone for them. This uses genetics because they are creating the same person with everything the same. For example there was a girl whose orgens were failing so they were going to use her clone and take out the orgens the real girl needed!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that it was unethical in that they lied to people about the clones and the fact that they were capable of life just as humans were. I believe that clones could be very useful, if they were in fact telling the truth about the clones' vegitative state. I believe them taking the lives of clones capable of thinking and living as normal humans was the unethical part.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that they were making clones of people was unethical. The guy told the clients that the people were in a vegitiated state so they wouldn't be able to feel and they have no emotions, which was obviously not true. If people in the future are able to make clones of people so they're willing to live, it would be absolutly wrong because you're basically killing someone else so that you could live. If we're going to be this smart in the future, why not use this smartness for something better like finding cures for diseases or how to get rid of global warming. People were not meant to live for 170 years so don't mess with genetics to change that because a bigger problem could happen.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie, I thought that the advance in technolgy that they had made was excellent. The problem is though, that the people running the cloning process, they lied to their clients about the products were in a vegetative state. The other problem is that the clones were being lied to about what was going on, and that what the people did was pretty much murder.
ReplyDeleteThe ethical use of technology in the movie wasn't always used right. In some cases when the used teh products to save lives it seemed ethical untill you saw what happen once they got what they need. Killing the products was not ethical because it's not right to murder someone even if they arent fully human. The future holds many possibilities for genetic mixture but they must master teh formulas so that nothing goes wrong like in the movie. Maybe they will come us with some way to do what the movie did but without killing the product in the end.

I think that there is a possibility of people having clones for spare body parts could happen but im not sure that it is right. The clones had feelings and thoughts and I think killing them to save another persons life is unethical. It is just like mureder.
ReplyDeleteThe movie is about how people want to live longer and they will do anything to be able to do so. I think this could cause a problem because people will want to live.Which could in fact cause people to do these things.People lied saying the clones would be in a vegitative state but they are not. This was unethical that they lied to the people, it may be okay if they were vegitative so they had no conciesness of their surroundings or what they were for.
ReplyDeleteEven though the clones were programed to behave and want to go to the island, they were lied to. They were made to give their sponsor organs that needed to be replaced. It is unethical that the clones had to take their life so someone else could live longer.
ReplyDeleteI think it was unethical. What they were doing was not bad, but how they did it was wrong. Creating a clone that could think and be normal then killing him/her was inhumane. Now if they were never awake, never learning or never having the possibility to live normally, I might be more acceptable.

ReplyDeleteI believe cloning is very unethical. They had stated that they have no feelings and can not touch. they were wrong. They were lying to the public to make things seem like it wasn't a bad idea. It really was though. The clones could see, hear, touch, eat, and feel just like everyone else can. The clones were also lied to. they were told that they were going to the "Island." They were really "chosen" so they could be cut open for their organs. I think this is wrong. They are murdering. People pay so much money to live forever. Is this our human dream? To live forever? To what extent will people go to so they can achieve their dream?
With any new technological advancement there are numerous possibilities in which we may use and we question whether those actions were ethical. Much like the Atomic bomb first dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki remains a debate today whether we gave the Japanese enough time to respond to the first dropping. We had used it to save lives for both the Japanese and American but came with it was the Horrifying and painful deaths of thousands. I do personally think after the first dropping we could have given more time to allow the Japanese to surrender.
ReplyDeleteJust like the clones they were thought as inferior to others lower than human to kill another person no matter how you put it is still killing another human being. Our use of Technology should be used for a purpose a purpose to do good rather than to cheat death.
